Donation Program:
Over the last five years CDM eCycling has donated computer systems to schools, after-school programs, individuals with disabilities and other non-profit organizations.
CDM eCycling will donate up to ten computer systems per month to any Baltimore non-profit organization that formally requests the equipment. The request letters need to be on the organizations letterhead confirming that they are a 501(c)3 organization and detailing what is the intended use of the computer. CDM eCycling will not donate computers to organizations for resell. All computers donated are tested and working but the operating system and software are the responsibility of the recipients.
Social Program:
One of CDM eCycling’s guiding principles is to work with social programs to train and employ those with developmental disabilities and other barriers to employment. Employing 95 workers, approximately 85% of these workers are developmentally disabled, ex-offenders or residents of economically depressed areas (HubZone) of the city. CDM eCycling provides an opportunity for meaningful work and these jobs have made a difference in the lives of so many Baltimore residents.
The core of CDM eCycling’s business model revolves around the use of a non-traditional workforce:
- eMerge personnel dismantle PCs, test monitors and work on loading dock
- NCIA personnel dismantle of TV’s
- Ex-Offenders work on the loading dock
- CDM is HubZone Certified with over 35% of employees living in economically depressed neighborhoods.
